Totem at rest...

Of wood did weather
artly craft
as salted sea did bathe;
this totemed spirit
possessed fore aft
time turned
on Neptune`s lathe.

Icarus...free

There a young simple man
within stark northern land
amused did breath
and venture " I can be free"...
bravely gaze to the open bold sea
vacant yearning of desire burning
thus spoke his true heart`s plea.

Earthen bound my feet they seem
yet heavens heights for me do gleam;
fashion of feather and twine i will
I`ll run smile fly off yon sheer hill.

His prayers dreams winged
as hearts they soar
may mercy compassion
guide his flight
safely to native shores.

Hope for Peace...

A Wilde conversation...

Thru deep dreams
awoke night last;
bold spirit upon me
did cool cool spell cast.

To darkness bathed balcony
did i pause to reflect;
of the Irish gent named Oscar
and my life of neglect.

Up did i get
to shower and dress;
then walk to the road
gaze hard east then west.

As direction i queried
sands lifted cool winds bent;
hark breeze of the west
to the east was i sent.

Dark sands did i wander
glance hard left then right;
no other did i spy
t`was a dead beach tonight.

Sentient oak magnolia pecan pine
night trodden path did faithfully line;
Irish bard`s wisdom i went there to find
for hope courage did dread doubt my soul`s venture bind.

To the right night`s lonely waves
did warm sands lovingly caress;
left wind scattered manses
vacant old tattered worn
yet nightly past glories refuse to take rest
and hauntingly proclaim architect`s design at it`s best.

Dank miles did i stagger
til gambler`s den with brew i dared rest;
my soul did to Oracle plea
vainly I still sought the answers
so long ago tucked in Oscar`s vest.

As i sat drunken wagered
did approach on my right;
a swarthy tattooed male siren
fragrant misguided smile of the night.

At first i recoiled
jumped back in shear fright;
then i snickered and smiled
for i knew he was right.

Oscar, the dead Irish bard
i sought
was not far from sight;
Oscar sat earnestly
smiled from my chair
all along
he had been there all night.

Oscar Wilde visited Beauvoir
and Biloxi
during his American Tour.

Bricks...

Bricks bricks bricks
earth`s clay man
fired hard a single day;
mighty singular units
yet whacked stacked
pointed jointed
does true purpose
of builder display.

Bricks bricks bricks
mason`s tiny soldiers
bold brazen stark;
grasped shaped moulded
created by man
divinely pulled from the dark.

Bricks bricks bricks
scattered tossed lost
once a time
cooly aligned;
thru blessed symmetry
mortar sweat toil
with hope courage
truly designed.

Bricks bricks bricks
tumbled jumbled fell
crashed dashed thrown
hardfall to earth;
whether nature`s fury
or man`s folly
matters not
for these brave soldiers
patiently await rebirth.

Bricks bricks bricks
do humbly await
their divine meaning still;
wall tomb home
what shall it be
pray courage hope
and a true builder`s will.

Unconditional...

Silent sentinel
beacon of hope
unquestioning
ever faithful.

Simple needs
wants none.

Love unconditional

Humble heart replete
divine affection proclaims

Hate fades

True love only grows
stronger with time.

De profundis

This morn ere
the beach i walked;
quiet alone
so to myself I talked.

My sounds were
not simple words;
or vacant tunes
as to entertain the birds.

But rather i rhymed
and chanted my verse
i know you`ve heard better
for i have seen worse.

I walked the beach
yet my memory did jog
A synapse went click
neurons released a cog.

There was once
Oscar an Irish gent
he came to Beauvoir
there left his spirit`s scent.

Tomorrow morn
ere i take my walk;
to Beauvoir i`ll go
and to the gentle bard
my verse I`ll talk…

Beloved...

I was not a saint
nor ever a king;
t`was your own half thought
that song did sing.

I am a humble man
of meager orgins still;
yet my soul does
with words
blue skies dare to fill.

My simple name a blessing
upon me bestowed;
by my mother
after the dear doctor
who slapped me
ere first i crowed.
